EBS is proud to support The Great Irish Bake for Temple St Hospital as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. Laila from the Fundraising Events team in Temple Street tells us about what's involved in organising such an event.

Hi there, my name is Laila and I work on the Fundraising Events Team in Temple Street Children's University Hospital. It's a really busy office with lots of different events and campaigns taking place so no two days are the same. At the moment I'm working on one of our most fun (and definitely appealing!) campaigns: The Great Irish Bake. As an avid baker myself (I've been told I make a mean carrot cake!) I can't tell you how nice it is to work on a campaign that gets the nation baking and raising dough for our special hospital.

The campaign has been on the go for five years now and thanks to the amazing support we're getting from EBS branches nationwide we're hoping that this year's Great Irish Bake will be our biggest and most successful yet. We've set our sights high and we're aiming to raise €75,000 so every cupcake and cream bun sold literally does 'bake' a huge difference.

All funds raised through this year's campaign will go towards the renovation of one of the busiest wards here, St. Joseph's. The staff and kids know this ward as 'Top Flat' and it is one of our oldest wards. For the children who spend a lot of time here, a high percentage of them have Cystic Fibrosis, Top Flat is a second home.

While the care in this ward is still second to none, the ward itself is cramped and in urgent need of redevelopment. We want to give everyone the space they need to care for our little patients and make uncomfortable and outdated wards a thing of the past. Our patients, their families and our staff deserve nothing less. With the support of all our bakers and fundraisers, and of course the kind support of EBS, we know we can make this a reality.

How can you get involved? To sign up to The Great Irish Bake (and receive one of our special fundraising toolkits) please visit thegreatirishbake.ie or give me a call on 01 878 4344 for more information. We are hoping that everyone; individuals, companies, schools and bakeries will all join together this April and get everyone baking!

So please join me on April 19th and 'bake' a difference. Our small heroes need your support.
