Sheila Martin has been a Mortgage Master in EBS Athlone since 2012 – and she’s loved every minute of it. It’s a tough call to name the best thing about her job; but if she had to choose, it would be helping local buyers on a daily basis. She knows this is the biggest purchase of their lives, so she’s chuffed to be able to make their journey as easy as possible. The best part of the process for Sheila is just after the initial meeting, when she sees the relief on the customers’ faces, and when they can say "I know so much more about the process now, and it seems so much easier than I first thought”.
Sheila has her fair share of memories over the years, but the customers who stand out for her, are those whose parents got their mortgage with Sheila’s late mother Betty - it makes the process that bit more special. Many families also pop into the office to tell Sheila how they’re getting on in their new home. Sheila’s family are all Athlone natives, and the best things about the area are the culture, with Athlone castle and the beautiful river Shannon flanked by St Peter and Paul’s cathedral. The town also has its fair share of the craic too, with great festivals like RTE drama festival and the TriAthlone.
